Over time the grout around your tiles will start to look worn and old. The colour may start to fade over time also. Re-grouting is a fairly straightforward DIY task that can spruce up your tiles and make your tiled area look new again. You will need a few tools and a bit of elbow grease for this task.
Firstly, you will need to remove your old grout. Use a grout removal blade to remove as much grout as possible, do this by running the tool around the tiles taking care not to damage the tiles. For any difficult pieces of grout, you can try using a scraper. Once you have removed it all give the tiles a good clean over with a damp cloth to remove any dust. Leave the surface to thoroughly dry.
Secondly you will need to apply new grout. Use a grout tile spreader to apply your new grout. Use a diagonal motion to make sure you get the grout into all the gaps. Use the edge of the spreader and a damp cloth to remove any excess grout, you should aim to do this as quickly as possible. Leave to dry for an hour and then use a dry cloth to remove any powder left.
